Hurricane Gustav is roaring in our direction but thanks God it's weakening a bit. Fortunately we live far away enough from the coast that we'll probably see no more than some hefty winds and rain.
However, the evacuees are flooding into our town by the thousands to seek refuge, and they need our thoughts and prayers.
Back when Katrina and Rita hit, we lost power for about a week; it was a mess. I hope this doesn't happen again, but if it does, you'll understand my absence.

Take good care of yourself! I live in Virginia Beach, Va, and a few years ago, we had Hurricane Isabel run through here. No power for eight days. Neighbors had a generator, so we could periodically hook up the freezer to save food. I got a lot of reading done, and caught up on sleep! Got to meet some new neighbors as well. Sometimes really unfortunate circumstances can have a silver lining! Stay dry, and keep in touch with us!
Thanks Ginny! I know what you mean about the silver lining. For us it was mostly miserable though. It was in the midst of our east texas summer heat and humidity, with no showers or water. Fortunately now the water towers are required to have generaters so we'll be covered as far as water. Thanks for your thoughts!
I was thinking of you when I saw the movement of the storm!! Stay safe Lance!! I don't like the looks of the upcoming forecasts with 3 more systems in the Atlantic!
your in my thoughts and prayers...stay safe!! take care, jackie
p.s.....youe wip pic is fantastic!!!
thanks laurie and jackie!! We're in the clear now.
Hope you made it through the storm OK. We lived through the big power outage of the midwest a about five years ago and that was a total drag. No electricity= no fun!
Have a creative week,
Kristen
Hi Lance, Well, that hurricane is over and now others are brewing. Be safe! Looks like pretty scary stuff.
